艺术(B.A.)

Requirements for the major

I. Departmental requirements:

A. 40 credit hours of Studio 艺术, including 艺术- 1410 设计, ART-2430 Drawing 1, 艺术- 3314 Issues in Contemporary 艺术*, 艺术- 4394 Senior Seminar, 和艺术- 4297 Senior Studio.

At least 4 courses are to be completed in upper-division studio art courses with at least one advanced level course in one or more of the following areas: Painting/Drawing, Sculpture, Photography/Digital, 和 Printmaking.
A minimum of 1 course is required from at least two of the following areas: Painting/Drawing, Sculpture, Photography/Digital, 和 Printmaking.

B. ARTH-1408 艺术 History II: Renaissance to Modern is required. It is strongly recommended that Studio 艺术 majors take an additional 艺术 History course. Suggested courses: ARTH-1407, ARTH-3357, ARTH-3360, ARTH-3461, ARTH-3363, ARTH-3464, ARTH-3365 和 applicable special topics courses.

C. Completion of 艺术- 4394 和艺术- 4297 in the senior year. During the senior year, Studio 艺术 majors are required to have a public exhibition of art works, selected in consultation with the Studio 艺术 faculty of the Department of 艺术和艺术 History. Student participation is contingent upon faculty portfolio review. In preparation for this exhibition, students will enroll in 艺术- 4394 in the fall 和艺术- 4297 in the spring semester.

*注意: 艺术- 3314 may be replaced by one of the following courses: ARTH-3357, ARTH-3360, ARTH-3461, ARTH-3363, ARTH-3464, or ARTH-3365. However, the substitution will not count toward credit hours in Studio 艺术.

II. University requirements:

Completion of all other required elements of the Pathways curriculum 和 at least 120 credit hours.

Requirements

Prior to the declaration of an 艺术 Major, the student must complete the following three courses with a grade of C or better:

艺术- 1410 和 ART-2430.
One other ART course at the 1000 or 2000 level.

Completion of all university requirements.

II. Departmental Requirements

The requirements for Honors in 艺术 are the same as the university requirements, except that the 6 credit hours taken during the senior year are to be devoted to artistic work accompanied by prose explication. A full description of the program is available in the departmental office.
